Q: How do I download and use the Label Gallery files?

A: Click on the “Download link” to start the download process and save the file on your computer. The gallery files don't have to be saved to a specific folder. Just save them to a convenient location. For example: Create a “My Downloads” folder in the “My Documents” folder (for Windows Systems) and store the gallery files there.

If you're having trouble with the file download, please see this Troubleshooting Guide.

Once the files are downloaded, please refer to the follow tips and directions.

Download Gallery file

The gallery download files are in .zip format. They must be uncompressed into their original .jpg image files before you can use them with your labeling application.

On Windows systems, double-clicking on the zip file should open in in Winzip. If not, you will need to do so manually. Select Start and Run. Type “Winzip” and press Enter. Click the Open icon in the WinZip window. Browse to and select the zip file, and click Open to uncompress the file.

Incorporate the Gallery file into your Label Design

Each labeling application has specific command sequences for loading the image files. Here are some examples for popular LightScribe Labeling software programs.

Remember to unzip the image gallery files you've downloaded before proceeding.

Q: How do I use my own pictures on my label?

A: Your labeling software should allow you to apply a variety of image file types, including (*.JPG). The commands to apply your own picture to the background of a label design should be the same as that described in the previous item: How do I Download and use Label Gallery Files?

Please refer to your labeling application's help menu and tutorials for more information on using backgrounds and pictures.

Another option supported by some labeling applications is to insert a picture rather than applying it as a background. This allows the flexibility of cropping or positioning the picture on the disc. It also allows inserting more than one picture. Use the mouse to select the picture and then to re-size and re-position it on the disc.

Remember to unzip the image gallery files you've downloaded before proceeding.

Q: Can I label my LightScribe disc before burning the data?

A: Yes, making labels and burning your data are two separate steps. You may burn your data either before or after you label your disc. The only exception is when playlist content for the label is imported from the data side of the disc. For those particular labeling programs with this feature, it may be useful to burn the data first.

Q: Why can't I insert pictures in my label design using the LightScribe Simple Labeler?

A: The LightScribe Simple Labeler was designed with limited functionality for fast and simple label creation and burning. It does NOT support using your own pictures or adding label designs to the current border selection.   For more full featured labeling software, please see the list of LightScribe software providers or directly download a trial version of SureThing 5 for Windows.
