LightScribe.com: Create: Nero Cover Designer

Nero Cover Designer

In just a few easy steps you can apply your photos to your disc designs. You can even add more than one photo at a time, and layer photos over existing designs. Read on to learn about three possible options.

> Option 1: Using your photo as a full label background
> Option 2: Custom insert your photo into a label design
> Option 3: Using your pictures in a photo collage

NOTE: If you’re using Nero 7, you may choose to launch the application using the StartSmart icon. If this is the case, a simplified interface will appear. The text commands in this interface are replaced with icons. The following instructions are for the expanded Cover Designer interface.

Option 1: Using your photo as a full label background

Follow these simple steps and your digital photo will be automatically sized and centered as a label background.

Step 1: Access backgrounds.

Select Object > Background Properties.

Step 2: Choose a photo.

From the Background menu, select File and browse to the photo you want to use. Select OK. The photo is now set as your background.

Step 3: Add text.

Add text by selecting the text tool on the left toolbar. Changing text from black to white may help it show up better against a dark background.

Option 2: Custom insert your photo into a label design

Follow these simple steps and you can add any digital photo into your label design.

Step 1: Set your design to full mode.

The default configuration for Nero is title mode (the design is in a ring). Before you paste your photo, click New > Empty document > OK. This will ensure your disc design is full mode.

Step 2: Choose a photo.

Select Object > Insert > Image.

Step 3: Paste your photo.

Click the disc outline to paste your image.

Step 4: Place your photo just the way you want it.

Simply click and drag your image to move it. Use one of the eight points around the image to scale it.

Step 5: Add text.

Add text by selecting the text tool on the left toolbar. Changing text from black to white may help it show up better against a dark background.

Step 6: Print your label.

Select File > Print LightScribe label.

Labeling tips:

  • You can scan photo prints and use them as label designs.
  • You can add text over the top of the image or even apply multiple images to the label. But keep in mind that whatever you added last will be on top. So paste your image, then add text.
  • If your text is too light, you may be using outlined text. To fix this, highlight your text and select the Brush Color (the bucket icon) and choose black. This will fill in the text. You can also highlight and right click your text, select Properties, and then the Brush tab. Pull the slider to the bottom to turn text black. Click OK.
  • If you have a border printed around your text, you may have the print border option selected. To unselect, right click the text box, select Properties and then the Pen tab. Click the X button to turn off the borders.
  • Visit the LightScribe label gallery and download dozens of free label designs.

Option 3: Using your pictures in a photo collage

Some of our most popular designs are full mode photo collage templates (such as Wall of Fame, Wedding Frame, and Picture Perfect in the label gallery). You can upload your favorite pics from your last vacation or special event, for example, and customize a beautiful disc. Here’s how.

Step 1: Download your photo collage label design from the label gallery and save it to your respective folder.

Step 2: Access backgrounds.

Select Object > Background Properties.

Step 3: Choose your collage design.

From the Background menu, select File and browse to the photo collage disc design you want to use. Select OK. The photo collage is now set as your background.

Step 4: Select the photos you want to use.

Select Object > Insert > Image and choose the picture you want to insert.

Step 5: Place your photo just the way you want it.

Click on the disc outline where you want your photo inserted. Re-size and position the image over the background. Rotate if needed by selecting Object > Geometry. Repeat the insertion process for other pictures.

Step 6: Add text.

Add text by selecting the text tool on the left toolbar. Changing text from black to white may help it show up better against a dark background.
