External USB Samsung drive SE-T084 will no be detected from lightscribe SW

Hi all,

…help needed, please…

My new external USB Samsung drive SE-T084 is recognized as a CD drive from Windows XP SP3 German version (my computer).

It is possible to burn with Nero 7 Essentials MP3 files on it.

Afterwards I want to burn with Nero 7 Cover Designer Essentials the lightscribe text on the other side of the CD……BUT there is no light scribe „burn“ button within the Nero7 Cover designer….most probably because even in the light scribe control panel, system information, lightscribe drives…it is written „no light scribe drives“…and this external lightscribe drive can not be selected (it ist not there at all)…as my internal drive does not support lightsribe, there is no drive to be selected at all.

Is there anybody out there with an idea?

…would be great…ruined all evening now…

Thank you very much & best regards

Rudolf

Hi Rudolf !

Two User with internal drives switched the cable position of the LS Drive and solved their problem with recognition.

It might be possible to try a different USB connection and try again.

Hello cimofj2,

thank you very much for that idea. I've tested it right away...with all USB ports I have....but no success....

If there is any additional idea....it would be great...

Best regards,

Rudolf

Solution found!!!

In the other forum "drives" I found this article. And although Im running XP it works...

THANKS!!!!

give this a try:

click start>run.

type regedit, then click ok.

navigate to the following registry key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE>SOFTWARE>Microsoft>Windows NT>CurrentVersion>Winlogon. (!!!even if you are running XP...!!!)

in the right hand pane find allocatecdroms.

the data value should be 0.

if it isn't,right click on allocatecdroms and choose Modify.

change the value to 0 then click OK.

exit the registry editor.

your lightscribe device should now be detected.

if it isn't,a restart of your computer may be required.

hope this helps.
