I had a Lite-On iHBS212 drive put into my Windows 7 x64 desktop. Reads and writes data fine.

When I try to label a (color lightscribe) verbatim CD or DVD, I get a communication error. The choice of burning software doesn't matter (Nero, Lightscribe's simple labeler, acoustica, etc.). I have tried many discs from the spindles. After reading here, I installed the diagnostic utility:

LSS Version: 1.18.24.1

Status OK

No LightScribe configuration problems found

Drive: ATAPI iHBS212 HL04 (Note that this firmware update was just released)

No media detected.

So, I guess it isn't detecting media because of the communication error. No errors appear in Device Manager. I've disabled Daemon Tools. The machine has a RAID array, which I read in one note means I can't mess around with the drivers, not that I want to. Is there any way to get this tech working?

Reading the forum seems to suggest that a lot of people have encountered problems with very few resolving them or at least reporting that they have resolved them. Hard to be optimistic.

Thanks for any help,

Herb...
