Hi. I've just installed lightscribe-1.18.23.1-linux-2.6-intel.deb on ubuntu natty 11.04 32bits, and the software center claimed that the package is wrong quality:

Lintian check results for .../lightscribe-1.18.23.1-linux-2.6-intel.deb:
E: lightscribe: maintainer-address-missing Hewlett-Packard Company

Isn't the latest current release version of the OS still in beta 2?

Hi Jim. It is not a beta, ubuntu natty is the latest stable ubuntu version, it was released on april 28 (11.04). A new stable version of ubuntu is released each 6 months, the next one will be on october (11.10)

Since it's a final release version I would recommend you access the Ubuntu forums and post the problem there. I would guess the new Ubuntu Software Center installer is now looking for some reference that is not present in the LSS software. You could always try an earlier version of the LSS but I wouldn't pin my hopes on that solving the problem. You could also try LaCie tech support...they might have a better understanding and answer earlier than anyone. Sorry, I wish I could be of more help....Good Luck....

Thanks Jim. I also am pretty sure that something has changed on Ubuntu Software Center, I've found some other .deb packages with similar problems (for example qlscribe 0.15) . Maybe it's a problem with lintian (the tool that checks .deb packages).

Edit: I can confirm it's a problem with the Software center: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/natty/+source/software-center/+bug/712377 . However, I recommend that future versions of the .deb lightscribe package take into consideration latest policy standards to be able to be installed without warning messages.
