I have purchased a Systor Systems Lightscribe duplicator with a 160gb hard drive and I cannot for the life of me get it to print a lightscribe label.  I have received two different User Manuals and neither one is the correct manual for my unit.  I even tried online at Vinpower Digital, which is the manufacturer of the unit, to see if there was an updated manual I could download.  No Luck!  All I found on their website was how SIMPLE it was to operate.  I have worked on a few computers in my day and I pretty well know how to get around in operations of systems.  I'm not saying I'm an expert tech or anything but I am not computer illiterate by any means.  Back to things at hand...these are the steps I have taken trying to get my labels to print.  First I created the label in the lightscribe template labeler software and burned the files to a cd.  Then I selected the read drive on my duplicator and put the cd in the duplicator and loaded and named the label files. A nice message comes up and says "Label load success".  Then when I try to print, select the label file name and put in an LS disc, label side down, the system starts processing then shows  an error message "label file not found".  The file was in the list for me to select but then it says file not found!  If anyone has any suggestions or perhaps a manual with instructions for lightscribe duplicator operations, I would certainly appreciate your help.

    Hello MillMill,

Based on your description, it sounds like you did everything correctly.  The problem you're experiencing sounds like a simple glitch or bug that can be resolved easily.  This is a rare occurrence, but a known one nonetheless.  In the majority of instances when this happens, if the unit is powered off, then powered back on after 30 seconds, the problem is resolved.  If that does not resolve the issue, then I would recommend contacting the manufacturer for a firmware update that will certainly resolve this matter.  Please feel free to send an email to Joelaz@duplicatortechsupport.com for further details.

Hi LS

Thanks for the reply.  I did try that several times to no avail.  But since my post the tech support  department from Systor Systems finally resolved the issue.  It seems that since I didn't have the right user guide information when I loaded the software on my PC, I needed to choose  a different drive from the default one that was listed.  I uninstalled the software and re-installed choosing one of the drives on the unit instead of the hard drive.  It seemed to be working then after 40 mins of printing a label it was still showing 0% complete.  So I called tech back and we tried a different brand LS disc and it worked fine.  So if anyone has trouble using Memorex brand, try Verbatum.  At least on this system.  The Memorex worked fine on my cousins HP.  Thanks again for replying.

I have tried everything with no success.... I have uninstalled the software like 5 times; chosen the HP drive that I have in the duplicator (im doing this in a laptop with NO lightscribe drive, cause the duplicator doesn’t have any USB or firewire port). Ok, the manual says that the labeler will make me the LSI file that I need for the duplicator... wrong! It doesn’t even show me the print button (is disabled)... ok I took of one of the drives in the duplicator, installed it in a PC... installed all the programs... and... when im in the print screen, it shows me two drives.. one of them is the HP DVD WRITER 1140d AND a lightscribe drive (no brand) ok, If I choose the HP drive, it only gives me the option to print and not to save it as a LSI file... If I choose the second option (Lite Scribe drive), It gives me the option to save it as lsi... ok fine.. It creates a 17 mb lsi file (i don’t know why it is so big) I burned it with nero and alcohol 120.. ok I chose in the second option in the duplicator (the vinpower "brain" has the 2.25 firmware) that's it! PRINT, "waiting for master" it says, I insert the master disc, It reads the disc, recognizes the file "xname.lsi", press ENT, then it asks me for the lightscribe discs, I put them in (facing down) and press ENT again, insert the discs and starts to read... then it beeps like 10 times and sends me a error "label file not found". I have loaded the same file to the hard disc drive, and it has the same error.. I am very disappointed because I have my client waiting for me to deliver the job and I haven't been able to solve this problem! I bought the duplicator just to do this and I feel very frustrated Thanks I hope some one could help me

I sympathize with you.
Getting my duplicator (vinpower 12) up and running was a frustrating period.
Must of taken 3 days of sweat cursing and writing emails
The girl at support vinpower will answer and is helpful but the explanations lack detail.and are over simplistic but in the end seem correct
The version of lightscribe template labeller which is working on my old Toshiba A70 laptop is 1.10.23.1
I'm pretty sure I got it from the vinpower site. Does that match your version?
Put the writer back in the duplicator (so long as you've got a burner out, check to see if it has the latest firmware (unrelated to your current problem) but should be done
It's all worth the effort eventually
I also uninstalled every scrap of the lightscribe components (applications) surething, nero ,everything.
Once you get it working, reinstall again that which you need and test the lightscribe template labeller for functionality

Hi Edd !

I thought I sent this to you before, maybe on another thread.

Try asking Jez about your problem.  He had a problem similar to the one you describe.  I think he found the solution after I sent him a message asking about an HGO File that was described in a Vinpower document. I think it had something to do with the order the software was installed.

I think he can help!

PS Don't blame LightScribe the problem is with Vinpower!

I have a systor duplicator. I can duplicate DVDs just fine. Flip the LS DVD over, place a CD with the lsi file on it in the top drive, it finds my lsi file, asks for the label disk, autostarts, then beeps repeatedly and tells me to eject the failed disk. If I up arrow on the duplicator, I see a job error code:69. These DVDs are lightscribe DVD, the lsi file was created with software from lightscribe.

Hi everyone!

I am having problems creating an .lsi file.

I have a stand alone duplicator, able to create Light Scribe Images, but when i create a LightScribe image, there is no option for me to save it as a .lsi file, only and .lsl of. lsq file, and these are not recognized by my duplicator?

Can anyone help me?

I had the same problem with the stand alone system. Instead of saving the file, continue on as if you were going to print it right from the LightScribe software. So, click on the "Print and Preview" button. Then click on the "Print" button. That is when you will have the option to save it as an .lsi file.

Hopefully you were just missing that step. My problem was a little more serious. When I went to "Print and Preview" my "Print" option was grayed out because no LightScribe drive was recognized. Even though we have the standalone systems, the software still needs some drive drivers and I apparently selected the wrong drive when I installed the LightScribe software. My system is from Produplicator.com. I called up the tech support and they verified I was missing the specific drive files in: C:\documents and settings\All users\Application Data\LightScribe\Standalone. Or something like that. My Standalone folder was completely empty. They emailed me a .zip that had all the files I needed. I dropped them in there and it worked like a charm.

Also, one other thing I was told is that the software many times needs to be run with administrative permissions. So, either run it while logged in as admin, or right click and "run as" admin when not logged into and admin account. Hope that helps!
