I'm debating which software to buy. Acoustica or Surething? Any suggestions?

Try before you buy. You can download trial versions of both applications to see which one fits your needs. Here are the links to download the trial versions:

Hi, everybody, for me it's acoustica all the way. It's very easy to use. I tried the others but I went to buy acoustica and no regret.

Hi Kim !

The folks at LightScribe had a "Template Playlist Labeler (Beta)" that attempted to import the Track List to label CDs.  It had a Half and "Full" Label.

I managed to get a copy before they withdrew it because it had too many things that were terribly WRONG .

  • I try to use NERO 8 for CDs, because it makes a filename which can be formatted to be "(xx Track)+(Song Title)+(Artist)";
  • They also tried to put the Track so I wound up with two; and
  • They also did every file in a folder, so I wound up with other filenames including sub-folders.  Also, the "Full" Label did not include an Image, but displayed as if it had provisions for a Background Image.

I've also found that a lot goes into arranging the Text Items for a CD.

The procedure I've found the easiest is:

  1. I start the Template Labeler;
  2. Usually, select one of My over 80 Custom Templates;
  3. Import my Image, if I'm using one;
  4. Go into the folder which contains the playlist;
  5. One by one select a Track File;
  6. Start to do a RENAME;
  7. Do a COPY of the track Name;
  8. Select a Text Item;
  9. PASTE the Track Name;
  10. Close the RENAME;
  11. Repeat Steps 4 through 11 until I've done all the Tracks.

I then rearrange things to fit, if necessary.

I have had to change the template sometimes.

The Custom Templates include both straight and curved text and go up to 24 Text Items.

Also, I:

  1. Keep the LSL File;
  2. Export the Label Image; and
  3. Make a copy of the Print Preview.

I have an MS Office Live Workspace that has:

  • Over 80 Custom Template I have developed;
  • OLD LS Software that I have saved;
  • Tutorials on Paint.NET (one of the FREE tools I use); and
  • Private workspace I create for work I may do for people who contact me.

The OLD LS Software I have saved is in ZIP Files and is as follows:

  • LSS+DU - 1_18_1_1.ZIP;
  • LSS+DU - 1_17_90_1.ZIP;
  • LS Update - 1_14_32_1.ZIP;
  • LightScribe Simple Labeler - 1_4_128_1.ZIP; and
  • LightScribe PWSDK - 1_12_33_2.ZIP.

If you send me a Private MESSAGE (This is for your Privacy.) containing your correct E-mail Address, I will send you "Invitations" to all My Workspaces and some other stuff.

I hope this helps you and everybody who reads this, including the guys in LS Development.

Since Sure Thing is free (not trial) I would try that first. But watch out for print quality issue in my other post. I don't know, maybe it's just me. Everything else about Sure thing is great.

Hi dipstick and Everyone else !

I've made similar posts on other threads.

How I create Labels Containing a Track List

I've put together some stuff I use to create CD Labels.

  • I wrote up the procedure I use in a PDF File.
  • I created ZIP Files for 5 Windows Vista "Right-Click" Commands that are used in that procedure.
  • I "ripped off" the "Template Playlist Beta" ''Full" and "Half" Disk Templates; fixed them and create a ZIP File of the two templates.
  • I have all this and more in My MS Office Live Workspace.
  • I have developed 104 Custom Templates for the Template Labeler.
  • I have developed 4 Test "borders" for the Simple Labeler.
  • 37 Forum Users have taken my offer.

Send me a Private MESSAGE containing:

  • Your correct E-mail Address (Required to send links);
  • Your full name (For my records); and
  • A nickname you use (For my records).

Hi,
I use both. They allow to 'print' on multiple drives,which I find is an advantage. Surething is more easy then Acoustica (not by much), at the end they perform as expected. Is more a matter of price at the end. Still no improve in speed.

The link says to download a trial version of Surething. Are you sure it's free?

I downloaded it FREE, but it looks like it's more than just a Trial Version.

It has been some time ago, & I haven't really USED it, but it still says 15 days remaining!
