I have a LaCie d2 DVD+RW drive. I was using their Lightscribe but after I installed Snow Leopard that didn't work anymore. I was told to go to a LS web page. I downloaded version 1.8. In this version it seems that I could only use LS to put writing on the top or bottom of the disc. When I was using the LaCie version I could put the writing on the side of the disc also. Like a music cd I would have on in the title "Oldies" then on the side the names of the songs. I can't do that anymore is there some thing I could do? Thanks

Hi !

I know of a way to get more Text into the LS Simple Labeler.

STEP1 - Create an Image with the desired text in it

(the Image must be a 2773x2773 PNG File with a name of fs00009.png and be put in the equivalent of:

C:\Program Files (x86)\LightScribe\SimpleLabeler\content\images\borders\fullsize);

STEP2 - Copy md00001.xml to md00009.xml in the equivalent of:

C:\Program Files (x86)\LightScribe\SimpleLabeler\content\images\borders\metadata

STEP3 - Make an 86x86 PNG File copy of the Image from STEP1; name it th00009.png; and put it in the equivalent of:

C:\Program Files (x86)\LightScribe\SimpleLabeler\content\images\borders\thumbnails

STEP4 - When the Simple Labeler is started up it will show the "thumbnail" (the file created in STEP3) and you have the ability to add 2 lines of curved text (it is recommended NOT to add text at this point because it might appear over any text you put in the Image).

If you still need help, send me a Private message and we can exchange E-mail Addresses and I can send you more on the subject.

An update will be required for LightScribe to work with Snow Leopard. When can we expect one? I use LS almost every day and it is a problem for me.

Thanks, I'm sure they knew Snow Leopard was coming out. So now we're stuck until the upgrade comes

I also just upgraded to Snow Leopard 10.6 and I have seven (7) LaCie d2 DVD+RW drives all using Lightscribe's latest software. Obviously all I am printing is a solid black cover which isn't going to make my clients happy. I have a video production company and these burners are constantly working. I can burn the DVD video just fine, but I can't burn the cover side. Right now I am using post-it notes on the discs to keep them identifiable. How can we get a fire lit under Lightscribe to give us an update? I can't fine an email, phone or anyway to contact them. I don't want to go back to ink printable labels again, it's to expensive. We have all been loyal subscribers to Lightscribe, they had to know this upgrade was coming and should have been ready. Shame on them.

I have contacted LaCie and they said to go to the lightscribe web page. I went there and the only download I did was to download 1.8. After that it did write on the disc but did not write in the side of the discs. I have music disc's and when I used Lacie LS it wrote on the side of the disc's but now nothing. LaCie told me that there will be an upgrade but he does not know when. Some thing isn't it?? Right we purchased this and I'm sure they knew about Snow Leopard

Re: Mac OS 10.6 Snow Leopard and Black only preview and printing... Like the other posters, I am having the same issue. LaCie has a Service Ticket open with me and only suggests checking their web site from time to time. I realize that the upgrade issue is new, but HP and LaCie need to get this resolved. I am certain of the OS incompatibility. I was hoping that 10.6.1 would resolve it somehow... but it did not. I have re-purposed my LS drives to older stored G3 iMacs with OS 10.4.11 and downloaded drivers and template software for a temporary fix. They are running fine on the old OS. If anyone has a good line of communication to Apple, HP and LaCie... please let them know that this is a workflow stopper for many of us. Thanks to everyone who has posted. It was good (somehow) to see that it is not just my system or hardware.

Re: Lightscribe previews and prints all Black since OS 10.6 upgrade. This is my Support Ticket from LaCie: Posted: September 11, 2009 @ 2:16 PM Unfortunately, this product has not been certified or tested with Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard). It is not currently supported on this system. Due to the fact that 10.6 came out very recently, it's hard to say when or if any update might be forthcoming for this device. Your best bet on getting any updates on this would be to monitor the website periodically to see if anything gets posted there. If something becomes availible, it will likely be posted there even before I know about it. I apologize that I don't have a better response for you on this. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask, otherwise you can close the ticket if you feel we are finished. I appreciate your patience.

-Thanks for your message. This is getting old. We spend good money for this LaCie DVD writer, the company makes money, but can't give us an upgrade? Like I said before they most likely knew that Snow Leopard was coming out.

Well, I gues I'm not the only one left out by my labeler. But figuring the Simple Labeler was similiar on the Mac as cimofj2 shows the M$ path. I dug into the Simple labeler contents in Applications and found the same structure. haven't tried the suggestion but the Simple Labeler works.

Hi Everyone !

If you would like a copy of my test images and other Simple Labeler stuff, send me a Private Message with your E-mail Address and I can send you a ZIP File with all the work I've done on the Simple Labeler Custom "borders" and the XML that goes with them.

Okay folks, what is going on with Lightscribe? It was 9.4.09 when I posted my first complaint regarding an update for LSS for Snow Leopard (OS 10.6) so I can continue burning labels on my discs. It is now over a month and Lightscribe is still sitting on is #$*&^##. I can't wait any longer, I am getting ready to move over to DiscLabel from Smile on my Mac They released an update to DiscLabel v.6 for Snow Leopard. I downloaded their demo and It works perfect with Lightscribe discs. However, it will cost you $35.95. I know LLS came free with your DVD burner, but I can't wait for Lightscribe to come out of its COMA.
