Am looking for software, or template that links parts of the template to a spreadsheet list used to keep record of what files were burned to which CD. We have been using Avery linked to this sheet for cassettes but technology is forcing us to go to CDs finally. Is anyone familiar with something that does this ?? It would be massively simple if the Lightscribe showed up as a printer in Windows...Any help appreciated & thanks

Hi Charlie !
I would be interested in helping you out.
I have don't a lot of work with Excel 2007 and Windows "Right-Click" Directory Commands and just recently made a "Right-Click" Function to transfer "TreeSize" Information into an Excel Workbook. I would like to get more details of what you're looking for.
What follows is what I have worked on.
I've just finished the Excel Workbook Function and used Excel to design 4 more Custom Templates.
How I create Labels Containing a Track List
I've put together some stuff I use to create CD Labels.
- I wrote up the procedure I use in a PDF File.
- I make PDF Files of any Documentation I create.
- I have V1.14.32.1 of the LSS and since Version 1.17.90.1 of both the LSS and the corresponding Diagnostic Utility.
- I include an "Additional Stuff" Folder which contains anything I create while developing My Custom Templates.
- I created ZIP Files for 6 Windows Vista "Right-Click" Commands I developed to support this and other procedures I use.
- I "ripped off" the "Template Playlist Beta" "Full" and "Half" Disk Templates; fixed them and create a ZIP File of the two templates.
- I have a PDF that contains "Template vs. Simple Labelers" - a comparison of what is the structure of each template.
- I found 5 FREE Tools I use for development, and have more I am testing.
- I have a PDF which contains a "Mini Resume" and a lot of "LightScribe Stuff" I've researched.
- I continually develop PDFs on the Tools I use for development.
- I developed 114 Custom Templates for the Template Labeler.
- I developed 5 collections of Images.
- I developed a New Custom Wedding Template for one Forum User and I did one for another Forum User.
- I fixed one LSL File for another User by changing a White Outline of some Text to Black.
- I created Previews of all my Custom Templates and Images and have Catalogues of both as PDF Files.
- I created 173 ICONS and a PDF Preview.
- I developed 4 Test "borders" for the Simple Labeler.
- I tend to concentrate on Filling the entire disk surface especially with TEXT, Bold, Outline, White Text, and More Font Control.
- I have all this and more in My MS Windows Live Skydrive and on My Office Live Workspace.
- I have just finished writing a 2nd Newsletter and a List of Newsletter Topics about what I've been doing and 2 other FREE Programs I've been researching.
- 115 Forum Users have taken my offer.
Send me a Private MESSAGE containing:
- Your correct E-mail Address (REQUIRED BY SITE to send links);
- Your full name (For my records); and
- A nickname you use (For my records).
I am retired on a disability, and I do this TOTALLY FREE.
I also try my best to keep E-mail Addresses confidential. I use "Blind Carbon Copies" when I send out anything.
I only occasionally send out Special Notifications, if I do something major.
The only "COST" is your E-mail Address which is REQUIRED both My MS Office Live Workspace and My Windows Live Skydrive to allow access to the stuff I've developed.
I just found out that:
If an Editor or Viewer forwards their E-mail "Invitation" to someone else, that person can use the link in the sharing "Invitation" to view a read-only version of my content.

I think the SureThing labeler has the ability to use dynamic fields, I noticed some features that seem to point in that direction.

Hello again Charlie !
I have a Trial Version of SureThing and a Licensed Version of MS Office Excel 2007.
I did a little playing around with both.
- I couldn't get SureThing to read the data from a SampleExcel.xlsx that I created.
- I extracted the XML data portion of the XLSX File;
- I imported the "text from file" into Word; and
- I saved a copy of the Excel Spreadsheet as a text file.
The last trial was the easiest to do, and I might try something with Access.
I find Copy and Paste using a TXT File to be the easiest way to get thing into the LS Template Labeler.
My Windows "Right-Click" Directory Commands have been a BIG help to do just that.
You always seem to have to move the Imported text to suit your own taste with anything you use.

Hello again Charlie !
I did experiment with Access.
- It will import the Excel Spreadsheet, but it want a "Field Title Row" so it could name the Fields;
- It recognized the Tabs I used as Separators;
- It recognizes the difference between Number and Text;
- It recognizes Spaces as belong to Text Fields; but
- It DOES NOT recognize Centering or Justification.
I'll probably see what can be done beyond converting to Text.

Hello again Charlie !
Well, I did a little more experimenting with Access and the Avery add-in I got from their website.
The Avery add-in will take the fields and put them on one of their forms, but I couldn't see any way of getting them into the LS Template Labeler.
I couldn't find a label form that looked like one for a CD/DVD, but if you could find one, maybe a stick-on label would be a better solution.
Remember, you can't put a disk with a stick-on label into an LS Drive. It could cause serious damage.
