Hi, I've got an iMac 17" with a Matshita internal drive. I would like to know if this drive (MATSHITA DVD-R UJ-85J) is compatible with Lightscribe ? If yes, do you recommend me Nero Cover design software ? Thank you JM

Hi Jean-Marc Gourmaud !

This FAQ in the "Knowledge Base" in the "LightScribe Toolbox" describes what you want.

Hi Cimofj2, thanks for your help, but there's no information about. I tried to find a solution on Macusers forum, but none response. I just wonder if there's an utility I could use to tell me if my drive is compatible or not. Do you have an idea ? Thank you again.

Hello again Jean-Marc Gourmaud !

FAQ #67 has a picture that shows the LS Sensor.

If you don't have it, the drive is NOT an LS capable drive!

Hi Cimofj2,

this is an internal optical drive, so I can't see if there's or not LS sensor. Even getting information through Mac OS X, there are some basic information about the drive.
Anyway, I think I'm going to buy an external Drive compatible Lightscribe with firewire connection.
Thanks for your help.

All you have to do to check, is open the drive's tray like you would to put a disk in, even on an internal drive.

You should see the sensor.

Hi Cimofj2,

have you ever seen an iMac ?
The drive is a slot-loading. There's no tray and you can't see anything inside !
Never mind. Thanks for your help.

Sorry JM G , I forgot you had a Mac and that Macs don't use drives with trays!

I've worked on both PCs and Macs, so I should have known better.
