Cleveland - If you haven't already done so, download the Lightscribe System Software (LSS). http://www.lightscribe.com/downloadSection/index.aspx
Choose your operating system, then the first selection will be LSS. Set it for the best quality (longest time). If it's still not good enough, you can run the disc and relabel a second time. This will make it darker.
Lightscribe has the awesome ability to know where it printed the first time. As long as you don't make any changes to the label, it will burn the label in the exact same spot, making it darker. Both of these suggestions will increase labeling time a lot. I strongly suggest getting Lightscribe 1.2 media, which will be 33% faster. I haven't had any luck finding 1.2 media in retail stores, but it's pretty easy to find online. As others have suggested, Verbatim and Taiyo Yuden media are the best for burning.

Hi, Sometimes it helps to change a picture from full color to a black and white or high contrast image. The LightScribe labels are essentially grey-scale printing, black on the background color, so line drawing and graphic arts label better than full color.
Also, use the ehnaced contrast setting in the LightScribe Control Panel, I would do that before labeling twice.
