LightScribe Forum : Installation : New HP dvd writer and Lighscribe on Mac Lion

Very frustrated. Got a brand new HP DVD 1270t (but says 1270i on box), figured that was a good bet because you guys invented Lightscribe. I can burn data to the dvd's no problem, that works fine. But upon trying to burn text, properly turning the disc upside down I get either that Error Message 4225 that tells me to restart everything, or in the DiscLabel software from Smile on my Mac it starts to write then I get an error message says it can't communicate with the writer. And the you hear the disc start to spin slowly, then come to a halt, and when I take the disc out, there are some "burned" markings like it started to write.

Again, data burns fine...the HP writer is working. It's only when I try to burn Lightscribe text that it messes up. Drive is installed in an external housing with a SATA to USB connection. Again, data works fine using Toast. HP website is useless, has nothing Mac related on this topic. All new software updates are for Windows only. It doesn't even turn up this writer model in search.

Lightscribe is 1.18.24.1 downloaded from Lightscribe.com And Lightscribe App is 1.18.15.1. Both of these are supposed to work fine. But it seems to me there is an issue with Lion that is not documented.

Can someone help me out please or do I just forget Lightscribe entirely.

I think I have the same issue with Disclabel on an iMac running Mountain Lion.

Also, it seems like the LightScribe drivers are no longer actively maintained. Hewlett-Packard has a host of other issues to deal with.
