Hi,

I had the same problem and after running across a great program that is totally free and receiving wonderful reviews I am totally pleased with it. It is called GIMP. Not only can you create your logo or even scan it into you the GIMP 2 program, you can also do as I did. Make it an icon and include this into your web site URL. It truly works seamlessly.

After you download it, you will have to save your image as

 .ico through File.... Save As

Hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
