I use the free version of LightScribe that came with Nero 8, which processes ".NCD" files, but I don't like the Nero software much. I discovered the AVS Cover Designer, which seems much easier to use. AVS does not directly interface with LightScribe, but I am hoping that LightScribe will process their output files, which have the ".COV" cover extension. I would probably be willing to pay for a version of LightScribe that would process the AVS files. Is there hope for me?

Unfortunately most (if not all) disc and jewel case labeling programs use proprietary formats that are not easily or even possibly useable in other programs. The file extension .cov is most commonly used for a Microsoft Fax cover page. The only way I could think to use your existing labels in the Lightscribe Template Labeler is to scan your disc label (@ 300 dpi or better) and produce a saved 1200 x 1200 .jpg image. You could then use it as a background image in the LTL application. You wouldn't be able to effectively edit the existing text but at least you could etch the completed label on a Lightscribe disc.

Thanks! I'm not surpised, but it pays to make sure. At least you gave me something I can use in a pinch.

Can the AVS Cover Designer output to JPG? That would work for most LightScribe programs.
