I have a problem with my disks not being recognized. I put a pre-recorded disk in and it says that it is a blank. If I hook up my original cd player it will recognize the music tracks. What can I do to resolve this issue?

Hi grant !

I don't know about it coming up as a DVD-RAM, but it doesn't matter when doing a LABEL.

Labeling either a CD or a DVD is done the same way. It's not like doing the DATA side of a disk. the DATA sides of the two disks are made differently.

Hi RalphD !

The kind of thing you're describing seems like a calibration type of problem.

Can disks with DATA burned by the dive in question be read on other players or computers?

The DATA side of the LS disks are the same as other CDs or DVDs. Only the LABEL side has a special surface for doing an Image. The only thing involved in detection process are Marks in the center (hub). These Marks are used for Media Detection, Positioning, and Timing.

You use lightscibe option from your labling program. When you choose your printer, choose "lightscribe". If the lightscribe printer isn't there, your program doesn't support it. Get one that does.

Also make sure you are putting the disks in UPSIDE DOWN. The top side of the disk goes FACE DOWN. The silver side that you will put your music or data or DVD files on is FACE UP. The lightscribe writes to the LABEL SIDE OF DISK.

Sometimes even cleaning won't help. I'm lucky if 60% of my lightscribe disks actually work. PS. Also try using a damp cloth to clean. Buff dry with soft dry cloth. Even a tiny fingerprint will prevent the disk from being written to. Always handle disks by the ends.

Good luck

Shari
