LightScribe Forum : Installation : Lightscribe Simple Labeler conflicts with flash

I have the latest versions of the lightscribe tools on this site installed on a Win 2K Pro SP4 with all the latest patches. When I run Lightscribe Simple Labeler it has the following problems.

1). Lightscribe Simple Labeler doesn't give one the capability to view the version number.

2). When it runs, it takes some time to check hardware although my CD/DVD writer is the newest version from Liteon which is IDE and has Lightscribe support. The reason why it takes so long is is that I have a SANDISK 8G flash with U3 support installed in my USB 1.1 port. After the lightscribe simple labeler is done checking, it causes the U3 software to crash and restart. Moreover, this is probably due to the fact that U3 will show a CD symbol as a drive in MSoft Explorer and the lightscribe software is checking this CD drive too. When the flash drive isn't inserted, it doesn't crash.

Here's an update to my previous bug report for Lightscribe simple labeler. When U3 software starts running, they have the option to disable U3 and use the flash drive just as a storage drive. When I do this, the CD drive symbol for U3 isn't shown in MSoft IE Explorer. Hence, when I run Lightscribe Simple Labeler, it doesn't take very long to check the CD/DVD drives (almost instantly). Moreover, it isn't affected nor does it [crash] affect the Sandisk 8gig drive. As a result, the Lightscribe Simple Labeler software doesn't like U3.

There is a known problem with USB U3 drive sticks interfering and slowing down communication. The U3 program creates a virtual drive that conflicts with LightScribe drive communications. You may find more information in our support section on the following URL:

http://www.lightscribe.com/support/index.aspx?id=1196

Please see the known issues on the Windows section
