Worked a few times now won't work at all

Wow this has been a nightmare.

I finally went and bought some Lightscribe CDRs and DVDRs, about $50 worth.

I get home and installed all the required software from www.lightscribe.com and used the Template Labeler a few times and everything worked great and I was very happy.

Then for no reason it just stopped working. The software will no longer detect the media in the drive. I can burn to the data side just fine but the LightScribe side is completely useless.

I'm using all Memorex brand discs which I have heard are the best but they still don't work. I have tried with both DVDRs and CDRs and the results are the exact same. It keeps saying to put a LightScribe disc in and gives me a 4114 error.

I am a certified computer technician and this is the most frustrating software/hardware I have ever used. I feel robbed now for spending the extra money on a burner with LighScribe capabilities and then buying LighScribe compatible discs when I could have gotten regular and more attractive looking DVDR/CDRs for much cheaper.

Then to top things off this forum is glitchy in itself and won't even load correctly in Firefox.

I have tried uninstalling the software and reinstalling. I even pulled the physical drive from my PC and reseated it. I am just so utterly disgusted with this product as a whole right now it literally makes me feel sick that I was ripped off and I have wasted this money on a product that shouldn't even be allowed to be marketed to consumers. 

At least I have first hand experience with it now and can make sure I never recommend it to any of my clients or else I would have looked like a complete fool in my industry. 

LightScribe should be ashamed.

I'm also very frustrated becuase I bought a new Lacie drive burner with light scribe a few years ago and I never used and now when I actually trying to use it I get an error saying there was an error burning the disc and whatever I try, nothing works. I also called to the company and the waiting time is so long besides that they charge fees for the technical assistance,

I have found out that 2 thing willoften help:

1) Clean the LS Marks on the LABEL side, especially in the center (HUB) of the disk, even if it is just off the spindle & is therfore NEW;

2) I wait until the disk is asked for before closing the tray.

The Marks are used for Media Detection, Positioning, & Timing.

If you haven't yet, go to the lightscribe website and download the updates.  When I installed my new external drive, it wouldn't work.  Then I updated the lightscribe software and then it worked. Also downloaded the latest drive firmware.
