I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit and have 2 CD/DVD Lightscribe Drives

1.       ATAPI iHAS124B

2.      TSST Corps SH-S223C

I have tried uninstalling both drives and then reinstalling the LS System Software with the same results as before.

Is anyone aware of a fix?

The diagnostic tool gave the following information:

Below is a link for use in troubleshooting your issue:

     http://www.lightscribe.com/support/kb_view.aspx?f=114

In addition why are your drives identified as running in SCSI mode? How are the drives reported in Windows Device Manager? What SATA controller chipset does your motherboard utilize?

My motherboard is ASRock - Model N68C-S UCC and the mainboard chipset (which I assume is the SATA controller chipset?) is NVidia GeForce 7025.

If my assumption as to the chipset is wrong how do I identify the correct Sata controller chipset?

Thanks

Gordon

The GeForce 7025 chipset you are referring to is a graphics chipset. The SATA controller chipset is identified in Device Manager - ATA/Atapi

Jim,

Device Manager shows:

IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers

     - ATA Channel 0

     - ATA Channel 1

     - Standard Dual Channel PCI IDE Controller

When I click into properties they all appear to have up to date drivers and are reported as working properly.

That's not identifying the chipset. Do you have multiple hard drives?

I think the reason your optical drives are reported as SCSI is because your SATA configuration is set to RAID. (not positive but I think so) I would recommend you contact your motherboard manufacturer tech support for configuration advice.. It seems that the Lightscribe function requires a SATA mode that is fully SATA specification compliant. (Must be backwards IDE compatible) For example alot of NVidia SATA controller chipsets require a driver change for Lightscribe to function. I also think there are RAID configurations that do not support IDE. The motherboard tech support would be the best source for an appropriate mode and setting choice.

I recently took my PC back to store for more memory and at the sasme time I asked the tech guy to check the BIOS settings.  The BIOS is set for IDE (not RAID) and therefore should identify the lightscribe drives!

Will I ever be able to use Lightscribe?
