Why is it so difficult to unsubscribe from Lightscribe?

Until I joined this forum, I thought I might be the only one that was having problems unsubscribing from Lightscribe, (I didn't want it in the first place). But there are loads of angry people on 'forum feedback', some of them with good IT skills, that just can't get rid of Lightscribe from their PC's.  The surprising thing is that the website moderator doesn't offer any real solutions; it is REALLY hard to remove.

I don't have good IT skills, I work in Marketing.  Surely this problem is really bad for the Company from a Marketing perspective?  Maybe it is a good piece of software, but who wants to use something that behaves like a virus?

If you use a good uninstaller and don't rely on Add/Remove Programs you should be able to remove everything Lightscribe from your computer.  I use Your Uninstaller and got rid of the lot !
OR
You could edit your registry and remove all traces of Lightscribe.

Start > Run > Regedit > Click on My Computer > Edit > Find Next > type Lightscribe and hit OK
Wait for the search to find the first reference to Lightscribe.  Right click on it and select Delete > OK
Click on Edit > Find next > type Lightscribe again and do the search .........
Repeat this process until all references to Lightscribe are deleted.
Then reboot your computer and all Lightscribe stuff will be gone !

Thanks Roscoe.  Unfortunately I can't do this; my settings won't allow me to edit the registry.  I did find several Lightscribe files but  I can't delete these as they are 'read only'.

I will have to get the Techies in the basement to help me. They won't be happy!

Be warned everybody, LS is a deeply embedded pain.

Re. the read only files ......... right click them and change the attribute to A (archive) then you will be able to delete them.  If you use a file manager other than Micro$oft's you'll be able to change file extensions to whatever you wish.  There's a freebie here http://www.freecommander.com/
and it kills Windows Explorer for dead.

There's a 100% free uninstaller here http://www.freeuninstaller.net/
Revo Uninstaller .......... works extremely well, far better than Add/Remove programmes.

I'm curious ........... why doesn't your system allow you to edit the registry ?
RegEdit.exe is a basic part of any and all windows dating back to Windows 3.11

I have used Periform CCLEANER for years and it works wonderfully.  I have not had any problems to uninstall any program files.  It works great!
