Hello, I have two notebooks, one ASUS N50VC and one Macbook Pro, that have double layer burn CD. I have installed the driver and software of LightSribe, in booth computer, but they never worked. In booth of then I have the same problem, the software says that doesn't recognise any hardware capable of it. I allready installed the software over and over but, never sucsseded. Any sugestion would be very helpfull. Thanks in advance.

Hi Jakoozie n digo !

I don't know what you can do on the MacBook Pro, but LS Drives must have 2 things:

  1. The LS "swoosh" on the front of the tray, and
  2. The LS Sensor on the inside near the hub. (See Knowledge Base FAQ below)

Hello again Jakoozie n digo !

Just because a Drive is Double Layer does NOT automatically mean it is an LS Compatible Drive.

As above, dual layer capability has nothing to do with lightscribe.  If the front door of the drive doesn't have the lightscribe symbol then it is not a lightscribe drive.  The best thing to do is to GOOGLE search the drive model, and if lightscribe isn't mentioned then it's most definitely not a LS drive.

The good news is that a lightscribe drive, at least for a desktop PC is just as cheap as a regular DVD drive.

However, if your drive does have the symbol, then there is a thread relating to BIOS detection of the drive.  It's somewhere on this forum though I can't presently remember where.
