Hi Kevin !
A bunch of other users have experienced "smeared labels" and I think it turned out to be a hardware problem. Usually DATA burns correctly.
It seems like something the LightScribe Sensor is not reporting Timing correctly.
First try cleaning the small block near the hub, don't confuse it with the Read/Write Head which can move. The sensor block has a fixed position to see all the marks on the hub area of the disk.
If that doesn't help, you'll need to have the drive looked at.
