The new version of the LightScribe system software “1.17.90.1” released December 12, 2008 requires that you have Microsoft .Net 2.0 and the .Net updates that don’t show up in the automatic Windows updates. To check for driver updates trough Microsoft Windows Update, select “START, All Programs, Windows Update” You will see an open browser window with the options express and custom. Please select custom, after a moment you should see a list of available updates. Select the .Net framework 2.0 and the service pack for .Net framework. You may also download the updates directly from the following URLs: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=0856EACB-4362-4B0D-8EDD-AAB15C5E04F5&displaylang=en http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=79BC3B77-E02C-4AD3-AACF-A7633F706BA5&displaylang=en

LOL, It just keeps getting deeper doesn't it? A simple suggestion to solve everything... Either fix the problem, or make older versions of the software available. How hard is that? Thanks!

It is not hard at all, as a matter of fact I recently posted almost exactly what you are talking about in another thread.
Here is what I wrote in that thread:
"Recently I updated my Light Scribe software to the latest version on the site {1.17.90.1} but I did not KNOW that this newest version requires the .NET Framework 2.0 w/SP 1 in order to work. Earlier versions of Light Scribe software do not require the .NET Framework {any version} in order to run properly. None of the programs on my computer require that any version of the .NET Framework be installed in order for them to work so...when I went to burn a label I got NO LABEL {and it was a 14 minute long wait to find this out}.
My Light Scribe drive is pretty new and requires a later version of Light Scribe software than my OEM provides. Eventually after a long search I found an earlier version of the Light Scribe software that works as expected but, it was from a different OEM than mine.
So...in case anyone else has had this issue crop up and fixed it like me...it might help if one knew in advance where to go to download earlier versions of Light Scribe software. There is no link to a complete archive of earlier versions on the Light Scribe site." I really agree with you on this one.
Thank You.
