Start by opening one of the existing templates in notepad or wordpad. Make minor tweaks. Experiment.

Lonetree is right again! You're going to need three similarly named files(different extension) in their respective locations. 1) a .lst file in C:\Program Files\LightScribeTemplateLabeler\templatelabeler\content\templates\ 2) a .jpg file in C:\Program Files\LightScribeTemplateLabeler\templatelabeler\content\templates\backgrounds 3) and another .jpg file in C:\Program Files\LightScribeTemplateLabeler\templatelabeler\content\templates\thumbnails As Lonetree mentioned, copying from an exisiting template(the 3 files) you could change the image(please maintain the same dimensions in the copy as the file it was copied from i.e thumbnails 128x128 backgrounds 1200x1200. Adding Text boxes in diffent shapes and locations is more involved, but can also be done. Let me know if anybody is interested Enjoy!!!!

As the shapes of the textboxes increase in complexity, so to does the SVG code needed to generate those shapes, but say for example I like the curved textbox of the DiamondGrill Template of the Urbanpack....I can replace my current text-box with: =========================== <g id="Arc Item 1" clip-path="url('#Arc-Item-1-clip')" transform="translate(600,600) rotate(0)" > <clipPath id="url('#Arc-Item-1-clip')" > <path fill="none" stroke="#ff0000" d="M -569,121 A 582,582 192 0 1 -255 -523 L -149,-305 A 340,340 116 0 0 -332 70 z" /> </clipPath> <path fill="none" stroke="#ff0000" id="Arc_Item_1_frame" d="M -332,70 A 340,340 192 0 1 -149 -305 L -255,-523 A 582,582 116 0 0 -569 121 z" /> <path fill="none" stroke="none" id="Arc_Item_1_baseline" d="M -450,95 A 461,461 192 0 1 -202 -414" /> <text font-family="Microsoft Sans Serif" fill="#000000" dy="-1" text-anchor="middle" stroke="#a0a0a4" font-size="5" > <textPath text-anchor="middle" startOffset="50%">1)Click to Add Text </textPath> </text> </g> ==================================== Your old text box should be deleted first from <g.... to </g>. Play around with it and you'll come up with some great looking Templates. Best Regards, Joshua

Joshua,
Many thanks for the simple and straightforward instruction. I have just completed several labels. I am not an experienced computer user and as I am in my mid 70's, appreciate the help given on this Forum.
Cheers,
Jim.

Hi JAJ,
For Windows, go to http://www.lightscribe.com/downloadSection/windows/index.aspx?id=1524
Download LightScribeTemplateLabeler_1.10.23.1.exe
Follow instructions.
There is also an update for the software. You will have success with the program as it is a stand alone. After installing you should see the Lightscribe Icon on your desk top.
Extra templates got to http://www.lightscribe.com/ideas/index.aspx?id=1540 and download the .exe templates, these are self installing.
Good luck.

Hi Everyone ! I've been mucking around with designing custom templates. I have found that XML Notepad from Microsoft and Paint.NET from this link:- http://www.download.com/Paint-NET/3000-2192_4-10338146.html?tag=mncol;pop&cdlPid=10879258 are GREAT tools for the job!!! I've also found out that you can use Paint.NET to generate COLOR thumbnails and backgrounds that WILL show up in the Template Labeler!!! I even used XML Notepad to correct a problem in the Straight Label fromanother post AND to directly add the "No Background" to the Catagory List!!! As you can see I'm all 's!!!

Hi Guys !
I just finished making 2 Posts of the message attached.
I followed what Joshua said and did some research for FREE tools.
I have an MS Office Live Workspace that has:
- Over 80 Custom Template I have developed;
- OLD LS Software that I have saved;
- Tutorials on Paint.NET (one of the FREE tools I use); and
- Private workspace I create for work I may do for people who contact me.
The OLD LS Software I have saved is in ZIP Files and is as follows:
- LS Update - 1_17_90_1.ZIP;
- LS Update - 1_14_32_1.ZIP;
- LS Diagnostic Utility - 1_17_90_1.ZIP;
- LightScribe Simple Labeler - 1_4_128_1.ZIP; and
- LightScribe PWSDK - 1_12_33_2.ZIP.
If you send me a Private MESSAGE (This is for your Privacy.) containing your correct E-mail Address, I will send you "Invitations" to all My Workspaces and some other stuff.

I know of a free svg editor (an svg file is a vector graphics file), so all i would need to do is create an svg file, rename the extension to LST and save it as a jpg? it seems too simple
Would this work?
Thanks, EpicAsian

Hi EpicAsian !
What is the name of the program?
I use
- XML Notepad 2007 to develop templates;
- Inkscape to produce Preview; &
- Paint.NET to edit the 1200x1200 & 128x128 JPG Files for backgrounds & thumbnails respectively.
I work with just the LST Files directly with XML Notepad 2007 & Inkscape (I don't do a save with the latter because it creates problems & excess code).

the program is called inkscape, and allows you to create svg file, which is vector images, and you can also export them as jpg's. i've fooled around with it some, but don't know a lot.
i think it could be used in the creation of a template.
EpicAsian
ps. i also use Paint.NET and The GIMP to work on images

Hello again !
As you can see, I do NOT use Inkscape except to generate Previews, I use XML Notepad 20007 to edit LST Files & Paint.NET to do the JPG Files.
I've found that Inkscape generates too much code; does NOT generate everything needed in an LST File; and can damage LST Files if a save is done.
You need what I call a Basic Template Structure.
LST Files contain code used by the TL to identify sections.
They also contain thing that are processed by the TL like the phrase "Click to add text" which is NOT output by the TL when generating a label and is specifically looked for.
Also, some sections of an LST File can be used to generate specific effect in a Preview and are partially ignored by the TL.
How I create Labels Containing a Track List
I've put together some stuff I use to create CD Labels.
- I wrote up the procedure I use in a PDF File.
- I make PDF Files of any Documentation I create.
- I have V1.14.32.1 of the LSS & since Version 1.17.90.1 of both the LSS & the corresponding Diagnostic Utility.
- I include an "Additional Stuff" Folder which contains anything I create while developing My Custom Templates.
- I created ZIP Files for 6 Windows Vista "Right-Click" Directory Commands I developed to support making Track Lists & other procedures I use.
- I "ripped off" the "Template Playlist Beta" (For which LS has NO documentation, NO source, & LAID OFF the Technician) "Full" & "Half" Disk Templates; fixed them; & then create a ZIP File of the two templates.
- I have a PDF that contains "Template vs Simple Labelers" - a comparison of what is the structure of each template.
- I found 5 FREE Tools I use for development, & have more I am testing.
- I have a PDF which contains a "Mini Resume" & a lot of "LightScribe Stuff" I've researched.
- I continually develop PDFs on the Tools I use for development.
- I've developed 212 Custom Templates (in 37 Collections), 108 Images (in 12 Collections), 174 Icons, and 4 Test Background Images for the LS SL.
- I developed 4 Test "borders" for the Simple Labeler.
- I developed a New Custom Wedding Template for one Forum User.
- I developed New Custom Templates for 2 other Forum User from Sample Images they provided.
- I developed 4 Custom Templates which use Circular Text Items & Circular, Oval, & Diamond Shaped Images.
- I developed 6 User Defined Functions in VBA for Excel.
- I fixed one LSL File for another User by changing a White Outline of some Text to Black.
- I created Previews of all my Custom Templates & Images & have Mini-Catalogues of both as PDF Files.
- I created 174 ICONS & a PDF Preview.
- I tend to concentrate on Filling the entire disk surface especially with TEXT, Bold, Outline, White Text, & More Font Control.
- I published 7 Newsletters & a List of Newsletter Topics about what I've been doing & 2 other FREE Programs I've been researching.
- I have studied the XML parts of the 2007 Versions of Microsoft Office Access, Excel, & Word.
- I have all this & more in My MS Windows Live Skydrive.
- I am working to develop more Custom Templates.
- I am sharing my work with 168 Forum Users.
Send me a Private MESSAGE containing:
- Your correct E-mail Address (REQUIRED BY SITE to send links & it's NOT included automatically in a Private MESSAGE);
- Your full name (For my records); &
- A nickname you use (For my records).
I am retired on a disability, & I do this TOTALLY FREE.
I also try my best to keep E-mail Addresses confidential. I use "Blind Carbon Copies" when I send out anything.
I only occasionally send out Special Notifications, if I do something major.
The only "COST" is your E-mail Address which is REQUIRED by My Windows Live Skydrive to allow access to the stuff I've developed.

Joshua,
I copied your code for a straight text label but I am not able to insert an image similar to the Lightscribe blank label with Arc text that came with the Lightscribe software..
Is there code I can add to the your straight text code that will allow importing an image with the straight text label code below ?
Or is there a different code format used when text and images are used together ?
The straight text blank label looks great, hoping to be able to add images to it.
Thanks ************************************************

I've created some audio CDs on Lightscribe discs and would like to burn a simple playlist onto the discs. However, I don't see a template I can use in the templates list in the Lightscribe software. Can someone please explain how I can do this?

Yeah dude. Fred has like four templates that allow you to put the track list on the label side of the disc. Message him and ask him what you have asked here in this thread. His Forum screen name is cimofj2.
If that doesn't work, Message me and I'll email them to you.
