Is LightScribe System Software installed on my Mac?

I downloaded the LightScribe System Software 1.18.23.1 for Mac and installed it on my Mac Pro running Mac OS X 10.6.7.  The installer appeared to successfully complete.

However, when I run the LightScribe Applications 1.18.15.1 installer, it tells me "LightScribe Applications can't be installed on this disk."

And DiscLabel 6.0.2 offers no LightScribe templates.

How can I determine whether the LightScribe driver is actually installed?

Try this:

Open "Finder" on your Mac. Click on "Applications" under "Places" on the left panel of the "Finder" screen. This will display a list of all the installed programs on your Mac.

There are two versions (for different operating system versions) of the Simple Labeler. Which one did you try to install that gave you the error message? You can't use the 10.3.9 version on your system.

Jim B, your note refers to the Simple Labeler application.

In my original post, I reported the LightScribeApplications installer (containing Simple Labeler) fails.

What I'd like to know is how to determine whether LightScribe System Software was properly installed.

What is the "Lightscribe Applications Installer" that is failing? Again, the Simple Labeler has two versions depending on your OS version as per the following link:
If you are trying to install the version that is not compatible with your Mac OS version I could understand the install failure.

The "finder" instruction was a suggestion to see if the Mac OS displays the LSS (Lightscribe System Software) like Windows does in the Add/Remove control panel. I don't know if it appears in the Mac OS. Since the LDU (Lightscribe Diagnostic Utility) is not available for a Mac OS it was one method I could think of to see if the LSS is installed on your hard drive. Follow this link and scroll down to the Mac OS instructions for another way:

The third party labeling application (SmileSoft) you have has Lightscribe template packs that are downloadable from their website. I don't understand you not having any unless I am misunderstanding your post
Are you sure you have a Lightscribe equipped optical drive? On a Mac system many Lightscribe labeling applications require the drive to be on and connected.
