I have never been able to run Simple Labeler.  My problem is identical to this post:

http://www.lightscribe.com/discussionBoards/index.aspx?g=posts&t=4772

I have the current LSS and Simple Labeler downloads installed on XPsp3.

When I try to run it, I get a popup identifying a problem with QtCore4.dll.  I search my system and find version 4.3.0 of this file in the system32 folder, version 4.5.1 in the lightscribe folders and version 4.7.0 in another app's folder.  If I drag version 4.5.1 to the same folder with the Simple Labeler exe, I get the same popup.  If I drag version 4.7.0 to the folder, I now get a popup looking for zlib1.dll.

I find zlib1.dll and drop it in the SL folder and now I get a popup identifying libgcc_s_sjlj-1.dll.  I find and drag it to the folder and now get a popup for libstdc++-6.dll.  I find this one and drag it to the folder and the next popup brings me back to QtCore4.dll.

Why the hell isn't Simple Labeler getting installed with all the needed DLLs?

It sounds like your download may be corrupt.

Here s a brief tree of my install less templates:

C:\PROGRAM FILES (X86)\LIGHTSCRIBE
│   license.rtf
├───common
│   └───Qt
│           QtCore4.dll
│           QtGui4.dll
│           QtXml4.dll
└───SimpleLabeler
    │   qt.conf
    │   qttr.qm
    │   SimpleLabeler.exe
    │   simplelabelertr.qm
    └───plugins
        └───accessible
                qtaccessiblecompatwidgets4.dll
                qtaccessiblewidgets4.dll

Thanks for the reply.

The install on my machine is exactly as shown in your tree.  I have tried with the last 3 versions of Simple Labeler and have yet to get it to work.  Each time an update is issued, I think it might work now and it doesn't.  Simple labeler appears to be looking for DLLs that aren't installed with it and aren't in the system32 folder.  Not to mention that it appears to be extremely picky about which version of QtCore4.dll it wants to see.

If anyone has any other ideas, I would appreciate hearing them.

I assumed you are on a Windows System:

  • Which one?
  • Do you have all the updates & Service Packs?
  • Have you tried the LightScribe Template Labeler?
  • Do you have the LS System Software,  LS Diagnostic Utility, & LS Control Panel?
  • Do you have Latest C++ Runtime Library & .NET 3.5 or later?

Maybe the SL will work after TK installed.

I installed the TL then the SL.

Thanks for replying again cimofj2.

  • XP sp3
  • Yes, sp3 with all downloads from Microsoft Update
  • Yes, it works
  • Yes, I have all the available Lightscribe products installed.
  • I have about 8 C++ runtime libraries of various versions, 2005 & 2008
  • I have all .NET frameworks from 1 through 4 with all service packs and updates

Template Labeler has always worked, Simple Labeler never has.

That's okay. The LightScribe Template Labeler is the better labeling program anyway. Is there a certain reason you wanted the Simple Labeler?

I don't know. /WorkArea/threadeddisc/emoticons/happy.png  I've never tried Simple Labeler so I don't know what I'm missing.

You're not missing anything. The Template Labeler is better in every way! With the Simple Labeler you are stuck with 6 skimpy labels. The Template Labeler is what I use.
