I'm trying to put my photos from my pc onto the lightscribe CD, but I keep getting the message The disk in the drive is not a writable CD, or it is full. They are brand new HP CD-R  Lightscribe discs. It's really weird because I printed a photo on the lable side and it came out great, but it won't put the photos on the disk. Help what am I doing wrong? Should I try another brand of disk or maybe a DC-RW? Thanks in advance. Lynn

Hi whitetiger !

I just had that happen with 2 HP DVD-Rs.

They labeled OK, but wouldn't burn the DATA side.

I was using Nero 9 and ding a disk Copy.

All the files got on the disk, but it wouldn't finish the disks correctly.

I had to copy the files to the hard drive and copy them to the DVD with Vista's built-in burn feature.

I bought Nero 9 because when I was working, Nero would copy just about any disk.

Nero periodically does this, but most of the time it works fine.

Hi eve413 !

As I wrote before, I've had trouble with Nero 9 not completing the DATA side burning.

This has nothing to do with LightScribe which burns the LABEL side of the disk.

Unlike the DATA side, the LABEL side cannot be read.

The reason for this is that the DATA side is a form of holographic burning, while the LABEL side is more like a Polaroid Picture which is more like photographic burning.

Because of the problems with Nero 9 burning the DATA side, I have used the built-in burn feature of Vista to burn some DATA to the disk.

I do this when Nero 9 gives me problems.

For LightScribe, the Marks in the hub area are used for Media Detection, Positioning, and Timing.

This area must be clean and free of damage.

Like I said before, the LABEL side can only be burned not read, it is like a photograph.
