I've tried a hundred different things including newest update and restarting. No matter what I do, when I hit print, it will not save a file as "lsi" which is what my Xerox machine requires. I choose a folder, hit print, and watch it supposedly create the image...but then nothing is there. I am supposed to burn that file to a cd and put it in the "read" tray of a multiple disk duplicator machine (new) then burn the labels from the saved image. The lightscribe software is only used to create the image, but can't burn straight to the machine.

I uninstalled every lightscribe software
from my computer, including any labeling programs that had a
lightscribe component, I uninstalled the system lightscribe software
and also the template labeler software. Then I went to the VinPower Lighjtscribe Shark Copier site Downloaded the Software ' v2.0' and installed it. at
some point during the installation you get a box wanting to know what
kind of burners are in the duplicator. Movbe yours from the list on the
left over to the right side and remove any from the right side which
you don't have. finish the installation and reboot and try again
luck

I've had the same problem. Up until now I have been producing lightscribe labels on my own machine using Nero CoverDesigner without any problems. The management were so impressed by the professional-looking CD's produced that we purchased a lightscribe duplicator on the strength of it. Trouble is that the duplicator requires me to produce an lsi file via Lightscribe Template Labeler which I simply cannot do. It gives the appearance of having produced the file but no file is ever created. I initially thought the problem was the size of my image file so spent ages mucking about with that. Incidentally I think the Template Labeler software is AWFUL. There is so little flexibility and the standard templates are hideous. I have ended up having to manually edit my lsl file in a text editor and then add everything else (other images, text) into one image file to get the label how I want it. Anyway, the point is that having read this topic, I have uninstalled/reinstalled the Template Labeler several times but I cannot get the dialog box to reappear where you specify the make of lightscribe drive you have installed. I remember it having an NEC drive in the right-hand side (I have a Samsung drive). The Samsung drive wasn't listed on the left-hand side anyway but the instructions that came with the duplicator just said to accept the default which is what I did. From the other post, this sounds like what the problem is but as I say I cannot change it to anything else. I have now wasted hours trying in vain to get this to work and we have a new release of our software to ship next week which will require me burning 200 CD's so I really need this to work. Please can anyone help.

Hi Guys !
I have no experience with duplicators, so I can only suggest very questionable advice.
I have had programs that wouldn't go to the place I wanted.
What I tried, and sometimes it didn't work, was to create a dummy printer which went to a file. I renamed the file and sometimes I got what I wanted.
On another note, I also think the LS templates have been too limited, especially with regards to Text Items. I have developed over 80 Custom Templates for the LS Template Labeler most of which use more of the disk surface for Text Items.
Lately I've been fooling around with the LS Simple Labeler and made 4 TEST "borders" for it so Mac Users could do more with it.
I also did a comparison of the two programs and posted it.
I have found two FREE tools that I use all the time.
If you send me a Private MESSAGE (For your Privacy) with your correct E-mail Address, I can send you information about myself, some of my research, some other stuff that I've learned, and 4 "Invitations" to My MS Office Live Workspaces were I keep a lot of my stuff.
Maybe something will be helpful.

I have tried everything with no success....
I have uninstalled the software like 5 times; chosen the HP drive that I have in the duplicator (im doing this in a laptop with NO lightscribe drive, cause the duplicator doesn’t have any USB or firewire port).
Ok, the manual says that the labeler will make me the LSI file that I need for the duplicator... wrong! It doesn’t even show me the print button (is disabled)... ok I took of one of the drives in the duplicator, installed it in a PC... installed all the programs... and... when im in the print screen, it shows me two drives.. one of them is the HP DVD WRITER 1140d AND a lightscribe drive (no brand) ok, If I choose the HP drive, it only gives me the option to print and not to save it as a LSI file... If I choose the second option (Lite Scribe drive), It gives me the option to save it as lsi... ok fine.. It creates a 17 mb lsi file (i don’t know why it is so big) I burned it with nero and alcohol 120.. ok I chose in the second option in the duplicator (the vinpower "brain" has the 2.25 firmware) that's it! PRINT, "waiting for master" it says, I insert the master disc, It reads the disc, recognizes the file "xname.lsi", press ENT, then it asks me for the lightscribe discs, I put them in (facing down) and press ENT again, insert the discs and starts to read... then it beeps like 10 times and sends me a error "label file not found". I have loaded the same file to the hard disc drive, and it has the same error..
I am very disappointed because I have my client waiting for me to deliver the job and I haven't been able to solve this problem! I bought the duplicator just to do this and I feel very frustrated
Thanks
I hope some one could help me

Has anyone had any luck creating .lsi data cd needed to program their duplicator? I'm stuck in this spot now and it's just been 2 days of pure torture. Sharkcopier 1-6 20x Lightscribe DVD/CD by Vinpower. Nice duplicator, if you can ue it!

Verify that the CreateLSImage executable is in the Lightscribe software installation. The utility comes with the vinpower installation, it creates the lsi.

OK, this CreateLSImage file. Where can I get it? My duplicator install disk does not install it. Nor does the downloads from the VinPower site. Nor does the downloads from the Lightscribe.com site.
If such exists, I could really use it.

I owe you an apology. You are correct, there is supposed to be a CreateLSImage file. BUT!
Simply obtaining this file, and dropping it into the program files/common files/ does not work.
To All:
I found a work around, by accident. I installed the duplicator's disk software on a machine with NO Lightscribe file, and there the CreateLSImage file was. Executing the Lightscribe software changed the icon, so I suspect self modifying. But I can now create LSI files on the no-burner machine, and burn them to a thumb drive. This I transport to another machine to burn the template disk.
I also now have it partially working on the master Lightscribe equipped machine. Under control panel, administrative, services, disable and then stop the Lightscribe service. Under control panel, add/remove programs, remove both Lightscribe entries. Then look to see if the two directories, one under /program files/common files/ and the other under /program files/ are gone. Then run hijackthis or equivalent to insure no tsr. Then run cccleaner to kill off all the now broken registry postments. Run the cccleaner several times. Empty the trashcan, even if shows emply. Then shut down system. Then UNPLUG the Lightscribe drive. Reboot and reinstall. Verify there is a CreateLSImage file in /program files/common files/lightscribe/ directory. Make a copy and move elsewhere. Run the lightscribe software. If there is NO entry on the print screen pull down, then the install did not take. Copy the CreateLSImage file to the correct directory and run the template labeler again. It may or may not show under the print panel pull down. Repeat if necessary, until the option shows. When it does show, shut down the machine, and replug the drive. The next run, the drive and the LSI burn will both show. And will show a few times, but I have gotten no more than four times.
Hope it helps some folks.

Hi,
My name is Andrei, I'm tech
support at SySTOR Systems Europe, and I'll be glad to help you, because
many clients encountered this issue. Here it is :
1.First of all, before installing the LightScribe software, please
make sure you log out of your user and login as Administrator,
otherwise you will encounter issues with the LightScribe Host Drivers .
2.Insert the CD you received with the duplicator, in the optical
drive of your computer, and run the setup file (for ours, is LightScribe Setup_ IDESelected_ v20.exe )
3.Check I Accept, click Next , enter your identification details and the product key (you find it printed on the disc) , click Next.
4.Next windows shows you two panels with drive models. On the left
there are the supported drives, on the right panel you have the drives
you selected (“your selected drives”). Remove everything from the right
panel, excepting the DVD LightScribe burner model that your duplicator
has ( for example, you will leave there only the LG GH22LP20.IDE 162 if that's the drive that equips your duplicator).
If you are not sure that your drives are LG GH22NP20, you can ask your tech support. Then click Install.
5.While installing, other small programs will
install too (the LightScribe host software, the actual LightScribe
service that is needed in order to be able to burn LSI images.
When everything is installed, please restart your computer and run LightScribe Template Labeler .
6. In the first screen of LightScribe Template Labeler, select a template for your disc. When everything is done, click Next > . On the second screen, you can customize the template as you wish, add pictures , add text. When everything is done, click Preview and Print .
7.Another window will pop up , the LightScribe Print Options. Chose your contrast level and disk background, and then click Print. You will get a window called “LightScribe image (.lsi) file destination folder . Navigate to the location in your computer where you want to save your image file, type the name of the image file, and click Save.
8.For the next step, you will need to burn the image file you just
created to a blank disc. Do that using any burning program, and burn
the .lsi file as any other data .
9.Insert the disc you just created in your duplicator’s source drive
(usually the first drive, counting up to down) , then make sure that
drive is selected as Source drive ( navigate through your duplicator’s menu to the Select Source option , and chose Channel 00 ) .
10.Navigate to second option ( Print ) , press ENT,
then the name of the lsi file will be shown on the duplicator’s
display. Confirm the selection by pressing ENT , and then you’ll get
the “Waiting for blanks” message . Insert ONLY
LightScribe discs, with the label side facing down (so the data side
facing up, backward as you usually insert a disc into a drive) , and
again confirm with ENT.
11.The printing process will start.
I hope this will help most of the people who encountered problems with the LightScribe technology drivers over Windows XP.

Andrei,
Thanks, but what you've done is essentially post a copy of the instruction manual, which really isn't helpful.
I have a Xerox D105LS duplicator and cannot use it to burn labels because I cannot get a .lsi file into it. I have uninstalled and updated ALL of the Lightscribe software multiple times on multiple computers. On my laptop (running Windows 7) I can get an option to print to the software which asks for a location for the .lsi file, but it ends up spitting the disc out of my burner and giving me a 550 error. I can either hit cancel or help. Help is an oxymoron and cancel just puts the program into a 550 error loop, but it does incrementally build the .lsi file. So I hit the cancel box a good 50-100 times and I end up with a .lsi file which won't work.
On the desktop the only option is to burn the disk. This works fine if I want to use my single burner, but is useless if I want to use the expensive heavyweight/duplicator. If I wanted to spend days trying to figure this out I could have simply burned one disc at a time.
Has anyone figured out a way to use another program (any working program) to get a good .lsi file?

Hi Christopher !
From what I understand, Duplicator Software, when installed, create what "looks like" an LS Drive, so probably must be installed first so the LSI File can be created.
The sort of problems I've seen here, should be directed to the Duplicator's Manufacturer.
The problems sound more like a problem with how their software gets installed.

Figured this out, if you guys haven't found the problem already. using
the Lightscribe Template Labeler, There is a difference between the
'save' (which creates a FILE) and 'print' (which creates an IMAGE)
options. If you use 'save label as' in an attempt to select a .lsi , the
program will only save in .lsl, a file format that the program itself
can read for you to be able to re-open your label and work on it a
little more in the future..It seems the problem here is that you guys
are saving and not printing, in which printing is the option will create the image that your
reflex can read. Click the 'Preview and Print' tab near the top - In my program there were 3 tabs - 1.Choose Template 2.Edit Items 3.Preview and Print. The Lightscribe Print Options should appear. If everything is okay (you can even change the tint of your lightscribe disc), click print, and the program will prompt you to direct it where to save the IMAGE, which will be your .lsi.
Hope this helps.
